In recognition of World Contraception Day, Friday 26 September 2025, Suffolk Sexual Health Service is encouraging residents to explore Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC), a safe, effective and convenient option for preventing unplanned pregnancies.
Delivered by Provide Community and commissioned by Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Sexual Health Service offers a range of free, confidential LARC services, including the contraceptive implant and the intrauterine device (IUD). Both are over 99% effective and suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Evelyn Kerr, Consultant Community Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare at Suffolk Sexual Health Service, said: “We want everyone to feel empowered when it comes to making decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.
“World Contraception Day is the perfect opportunity to start the conversation, bust myths, and make contraception more accessible.”
LARC methods are ideal for those looking for long-term peace of mind without the need for a daily pill or frequent clinic visits. Once fitted by a professional, they provide protection for several years but can be removed at any time if circumstances or preferences change.
Suffolk Sexual Health Service offers appointments across Suffolk, with drop-in sessions and clinics in convenient community locations, making it easier than ever to get advice and care.
